One
of the most effective ideas in food décor is a good
fruit display. Fruit carving is an art which
never fails to impress even the most critical of guests; an
ordinary papaya is turned into a bouquet of flowers, a large
round watermelon becomes a richly decorated and lidded bowl
to be used as a container for fruit salad. The possibilities
are endless and the results, breathtaking. Apart from being
part of an attractive display, the fruit also serves a dual
purpose as part of the dessert.
The fruit display can be arranged on a trestle
table or if you really want to push the boat out, we can make
a feature of it by assembling a thatched roof hut with bullock
carts carrying the fruit. Alternatively, you can have a figurine
or a copper Ganesh idol as a central feature to your fruit
display, with fruit arranged around it. Another choice is
to have an ice sculpture as a central feature to your fruit
display.
Only the freshest, lush fruits are chosen
for the display. Strawberries, grapes, mangos, melons, cherries,
pineapples are hot favourites. For a more exotic touch, guavas,
custard apples (sitaphal), papaya, passion fruits really go
down a treat. In our experience, guests simply cannot wait
to sample the exotic fruits on display!
